The ACCUPRO 700-MG is a single point tool bit designed for threading and V-grooving operations on metalworking lathes and turning centers. Built with a micrograin solid carbide tip brazed to a steel shank, it delivers consistent cutting performance in demanding threading applications. The right-hand cutting direction and ER-style offset geometry allow the tool to thread close to a shoulder, making it a practical choice for parts that require a thread run-out near a step or face. The 60-degree included angle suits standard unified and metric thread forms. The overall length is 2.25 inches and the shank measures 5/16 inch square.
The 700-MG is used in manual and CNC lathe setups where external threading close to a shoulder is required. The offset tip geometry extends reach and clears obstructions that a straight tool bit cannot. It is suited for job shops, tool rooms, and production environments running right-hand external threads in steel, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. The ER industry standard designation (ER-5) helps machinists match this insert to compatible toolholders and grade references already in use on the shop floor.
Designed as an OEM-style single point threading tool bit for use in standard lathe toolholders accepting a 5/16-inch square shank. Compatible with threading and V-grooving to shoulder applications where ER-style offset geometry is required.
A qualified machinist should install and set this tool bit in a rigid lathe toolholder, ensuring the tip is on center with the workpiece centerline before threading begins. Power down and lock out the machine before loading or adjusting the tool bit. Verify toolholder setscrew torque is appropriate for the shank size before engaging the cut. Do not use this tool bit for interrupted cuts or applications outside its intended threading and V-grooving geometry.
