The ACCUPRO 62760871 is a taper length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding production and toolroom environments. Built from solid carbide and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in ferrous metals, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The bit measures 0.1200 inches in diameter (wire size #31) with a 140-degree split-point geometry that reduces thrust and improves self-centering on entry. Overall length is 2.992 inches with a 1.05-inch spiral flute, providing chip evacuation and coolant-through capability for deep-hole applications. A straight shank with 0.125-inch diameter (3.00 mm) seats directly in standard collet chucks and drill chucks.
This taper length drill bit is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where a longer reach than a jobber-length bit is required without sacrificing rigidity. The 7xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio makes it appropriate for through-holes and blind holes in tight-tolerance work. It is commonly used in aerospace, mold-and-die, and general precision machining applications where AlTiN coating provides thermal protection at elevated spindle speeds. The coolant-through design supports both flood and through-spindle coolant delivery to improve chip flushing and bit longevity.
Designed as an OEM-style taper length drill for use in standard straight-shank collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 0.125-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully in the collet or chuck to the manufacturer-recommended grip depth before tightening. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable tolerance before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates carbide wear. Always confirm the machine is at a full stop and spindle power is off before changing or inspecting tooling.
