The ACCUPRO 588477 is an ER20 series collet sized for 5 mm shank tooling. Collets in the ER20 standard are widely used in CNC machining centers, milling machines, and drilling applications where accurate tool holding and repeatable runout are required. The ER20 collet grips cutting tools, drill bits, and round-shank tooling by compressing uniformly around the tool shank as the nut is tightened. This design delivers consistent clamping force across the collet body, supporting precise material removal in both production and job-shop environments. Machinists and CNC operators install and replace these collets as part of routine tooling changeovers.
This collet is suited for use in ER20-compatible collet chucks mounted in vertical machining centers, horizontal mills, drill presses, and lathe turrets. The 5 mm bore size accommodates metric shank tooling including end mills, reamers, taps, and drill bits ground to that diameter. It is appropriate for light to moderate cutting loads in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where the ER20 system is the specified tool-holding standard.
Designed for use with ER20-standard collet chucks and tool holders that accept the ER20 collet series.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is removed or locked out before changing collets. Seat the collet fully into the collet nut before threading onto the chuck body, and tighten the nut with the appropriate ER collet wrench to the chuck specification. Inspect the collet bore and seating surfaces for chips or damage before each use.
