The ACCUPRO 52973666 is a solid carbide milling insert in the APKT style, designed for use in indexable milling cutters across a wide range of metal-cutting applications. This single-sided, right-hand insert carries the ISO code APKT1604PDERHCM and is manufactured to grade ACP30M with a CVD coating for extended wear resistance. The rectangular insert features a positive rake geometry and an 11.5-degree relief angle, making it well suited for efficient chip evacuation during face and shoulder milling operations. With two cutting edges per insert, it delivers solid value in high-volume production environments. Corner radius measures 0.0335 inches (0.85 mm).
This insert is intended for use in CI-series compatible milling cutter bodies accepting the APKT insert style. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials, depending on feed and speed selection. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.6024 inches (15.30 mm), making it capable of handling moderate-to-aggressive stock removal. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shop, production machining, and toolroom environments are the primary users of this insert. It is sold in a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in milling cutter bodies compatible with the APKT insert style and CI cutter series. ISO code APKT1604PDERHCM governs fitment with appropriate toolholders accepting this geometry and size code 16.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before swapping inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a vise or toolholder fixture. Use the correct torx or hex key for the clamping screw specified by the cutter body manufacturer, and do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and will crack under excessive clamp force. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
