The ACCUPRO 50421 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding production environments. Ground to a 150-degree point angle with an ALTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating, it handles hardened steels, stainless alloys, cast iron, and other abrasive materials where high-speed steel tooling falls short. The three-flute spiral configuration improves chip evacuation and surface finish compared to standard two-flute designs. At 4.5 inches overall length with a 2.375-inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks and CNC machining centers without modification. Weighing 0.17 pounds, it is a lightweight but rigid cutting tool suited to tight-tolerance applications.
This drill bit is intended for use in machine shop, metalworking, and industrial maintenance environments. It suits CNC vertical machining centers, knee mills, and programmable drill presses where consistent hole quality in ferrous and non-ferrous metals is required. The straight cylindrical shank accommodates standard collet chucks and keyless drill chucks across a wide range of spindle platforms. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it appropriate for moderate-depth holes in production runs where tool life and repeatability matter. It is sold individually and is compatible with ANSI-specification toolholding systems.
Designed as an OEM-compatible replacement or new-install cutting tool for ANSI-standard straight-shank toolholding systems accepting drill bits in the 0.3500 to 0.4000 inch decimal inch range.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Before changing tooling, ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet or chuck before tightening to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping torque. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and can fracture if run in a worn or improperly balanced condition.
