The ACCUPRO 4500382 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding applications. At 25/64 inch (0.3906 inch) diameter and 4.174 inches overall length, this bit features a 140-degree split point with R-thinning to reduce thrust and improve center-starting accuracy. The TiAlN coating extends tool life by resisting heat buildup at elevated cutting speeds. A 2-flute spiral design with a 1.969-inch flute length provides efficient chip evacuation. Coolant-through capability makes this bit well-suited for deep-hole work where heat management is critical. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators rely on this geometry for consistent performance in production environments.
This drill bit is rated for primary use in stainless steels, where its 140-degree point angle and web thinning minimize work-hardening at entry. The screw machine (stub) length body provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, reducing deflection in tight setups. It is appropriate for use in machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where a straight-cylindrical shank and short-reach geometry are preferred. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip clearing in moderate-depth holes without packing. It is sold individually and packaged as a single unit.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or upgrade for 25/64 inch screw machine length drill bits with straight-cylindrical shanks used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual milling setups targeting stainless steel and similar hard workpiece materials.
Installation and use of this tool should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with carbide tooling handling procedures. Inspect the cutting edges and shank for chips or runout before seating in the chuck or collet. Solid carbide is brittle and susceptible to fracture from side-loading or improper feed rates — follow manufacturer feed and speed recommendations for the specific workpiece material. Verify coolant flow is active before initiating a through-coolant cycle to prevent thermal shock to the bit.
