The ACCUPRO 4500231 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built to a 140-degree split point geometry with R-thinned web, this bit reduces thrust and improves centering without a pilot hole. The TiAlN coating provides heat resistance at elevated cutting speeds, extending tool life when working through abrasive or work-hardening materials. At 11.80 mm in diameter with an overall length of 4.6457 inches and a flute length of 2.7953 inches, it fits standard straight-shank toolholders and drill chucks. Coolant-through capability supports internal chip evacuation and temperature control in deep-hole applications. This bit is suited for machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators running CNC machining centers or manual drilling equipment.
The 4500231 is rated for use in stainless steel as its primary workpiece material, making it appropriate for food service, medical, aerospace, and industrial fabrication environments where 300- and 400-series stainless, duplex grades, and similar work-hardening alloys are common. The 140-degree point and TiAlN coating work together to manage heat buildup that would degrade high-speed steel tooling. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in deeper passes. Suitable for both CNC and manual drill press setups where coolant or cutting fluid delivery is available at the cutting zone.
Designed for use in straight-shank drill chucks and toolholders accepting a 12 mm shank diameter. Intended primarily for drilling stainless steel and other work-hardening alloys on CNC machining centers and manual drill presses equipped with coolant delivery.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Solid carbide drills are brittle compared to high-speed steel and require a rigid, low-runout setup to prevent tip fracture. Always verify chuck or toolholder concentricity and ensure coolant flow is established before engaging the cut. Reduce feed rate if chatter or vibration is detected, as carbide does not flex and will snap under lateral loading.
