The ACCUPRO 4500023 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size 20, with a decimal diameter of 0.1610 inches. It features a 140-degree proprietary point angle and a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating applied over the solid carbide substrate. The slow spiral flute geometry is engineered for cutting hardened materials where standard high-speed steel bits lose edge life rapidly. This bit has an overall length of 2.5 inches and a flute length of 1 inch, with a straight cylindrical shank measuring 3/16 inch (0.1875 inches) in diameter. Right-hand cutting direction. Intended for machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance technicians working with hardened steels and difficult alloys.
This drill bit is suited for precision hole-making in hardened materials in machine shop, tool room, and production environments. The UR-thinned web reduces thrust requirements when entering hardened workpieces. The 4xD flute-by-diameter ratio and slow spiral design help manage chip evacuation in short-chipping materials. It is compatible with drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills with 3/8-inch or larger chucks that accept a 3/16-inch straight shank. No coolant-through capability is present on this bit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use drill bit for applications requiring a wire gauge size 20 (0.1610-inch diameter) hole in hardened materials, per DIN specification. No specific machine model compatibility was provided by the manufacturer for this part number.
This bit should be installed in a properly sized collet or drill chuck rated for a 3/16-inch straight shank before use. Secure the workpiece firmly and confirm spindle speed settings are appropriate for the workpiece hardness and diameter before starting the cut. Inspect the cutting edge before each use; solid carbide is brittle and chips from improper handling can render the bit unsafe or ineffective. Do not use this bit for coolant-through applications, as no internal coolant channel is present.
