The ACCUPRO 4500005 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge number 9 (0.1960 inches decimal) with a 140-degree point angle and a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating. The slow-spiral flute geometry moves chips efficiently while reducing heat buildup in difficult materials. At 2.875 inches overall length with a 1.2813-inch flute length, this is a compact, rigid tool built for precision hole-making in hardened and difficult-to-machine workpieces. A licensed machinist, toolroom technician, or industrial maintenance tech will install this in a CNC machining center, drill press, or handheld drill motor with a compatible straight-shank chuck or collet.
This drill bit is designed for primary use in hardened materials where standard high-speed steel tooling fails or wears prematurely. The TiAlN coating extends tool life at elevated cutting temperatures, making it well suited for interrupted cuts, close-tolerance work, and production drilling in hardened steel, tool steel, and similarly demanding workpiece materials. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.2500 inches (1/4 inch) in diameter, allowing it to seat in standard chucks and collets sized for that diameter. Slow-spiral flute geometry and a UR-thinned web reduce thrust requirements and improve chip evacuation in tough materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit drill bit for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and handheld power tools equipped with a 0.2500-inch straight-shank collet or chuck. Conforms to DIN specification designation for jobber-length drills.
A qualified machinist or toolroom technician should install this bit. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the bit from any chuck or collet. Verify the chuck or collet is rated for the 0.2500-inch shank diameter and that the tool is seated to the full shank depth before torquing the clamping mechanism. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; apply external coolant or cutting fluid as required by the workpiece material and shop practice.
