The ACCUPRO 4500003 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for drilling into hardened materials where standard high-speed steel tooling fails. It carries a No. 6 wire gauge size with a decimal diameter of 0.2040 inches and features a 140-degree split point for aggressive self-centering entry with reduced walking. The TiAlN coating adds thermal resistance and surface hardness, extending tool life in high-heat cutting conditions. With an overall length of 2.875 inches and a flute length of 1.2813 inches, this bit fits standard drill chucks via its straight 0.25-inch shank. Intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals working with hardened workpieces.
This drill bit is suited for precision hole-making in hardened steels and other difficult-to-machine materials in both production and maintenance environments. The slow spiral flute geometry controls chip evacuation in tough materials, reducing heat buildup and chip packing. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw drill chucks and collet holders. Typical applications include drilling through hardened wear plates, tool steels, and other materials that exceed the capability of standard cobalt or HSS tooling. It ships individually and is sold as a single unit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct-fit jobber drill for applications requiring a No. 6 wire size, 0.25-inch straight shank solid carbide bit compatible with standard three-jaw chucks and collet holders rated for that shank diameter.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tool technicians familiar with carbide tooling practices. Ensure the drill press, CNC machine, or handheld tool is fully powered down and secured before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Carbide is brittle compared to HSS — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed rate adjustment, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate when drilling hardened materials.
