The ACCUPRO 40063-01C is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting internal threads in a 10-24 UNC configuration. Built from powdered metal and finished with a TiCN (Titanium Carbon Nitride) coating, this tap delivers improved wear resistance and tool life compared to standard high-speed steel options. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of blind holes. With a 42-degree helix angle and fast flute style, it efficiently evacuates chips upward out of the hole, making it well suited for interrupted cuts and short-chipping materials. Right-hand thread direction matches standard fastener orientation. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians install this tap in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and tapping heads.
This tap is used in production and job-shop environments where consistent thread quality in blind holes is required. The 2B/3B class of fit covers both standard commercial tolerances and closer-tolerance applications, giving it flexibility across common fastener specifications. The H3 thread limit provides controlled oversize for plated or coated fastener applications. It is appropriate for use in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where a spiral flute geometry is preferred over a straight flute for chip management in blind-hole conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style spiral flute tap for use in standard tapping chucks, floating tap holders, and rigid tapping setups accepting industry-standard tap shank dimensions for the 10-24 UNC size range.
This tap should be installed by a qualified machinist following standard tapping procedures. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is properly aligned to the pre-drilled hole before engaging. Use an appropriate cutting fluid or tapping compound compatible with the workpiece material to protect the coating and extend tool life. Follow OSHA machine guarding and lockout/tagout procedures when setting up tapping equipment.
