The ACCUPRO 39446 is a single-end square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. Built from powdered metal, this tool offers a cost-effective alternative to solid carbide while providing improved wear resistance over standard high-speed steel. The 39446 has a 0.375-inch cutting diameter, a 0.75-inch length of cut, and a 0.375-inch shank diameter for compatibility with standard collets and tool holders. Four spiral flutes with a right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction support efficient chip evacuation. The centercutting design allows for plunge milling in addition to peripheral and slot cutting. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this type of end mill in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
This end mill is suited for use in light to medium material removal applications on steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous workpiece materials. The uncoated finish makes it a straightforward choice for shops that re-grind tooling in-house, as there is no coating to manage or re-apply after sharpening. The 2.5-inch overall length provides adequate reach for typical pocket and slot milling operations without introducing excessive tool deflection. This is a single-quantity item sold per piece, making it practical for job-specific tooling builds or as a direct replacement for worn tooling.
Designed as a standard 3/8-inch shank square end mill compatible with collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling machine spindles accepting 3/8-inch straight shanks.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolroom practices. Secure the shank in a clean, undamaged collet or tool holder and torque to the machine manufacturer's specification. Verify runout before cutting to avoid premature wear or poor surface finish. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling.
