The ACCUPRO 38972931 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling in tight geometries and small-feature work. It carries a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch decimal) mill diameter and a 0.0270-inch length of cut, making it suited for fine detail passes in dies, molds, and complex contoured surfaces. The tool is manufactured from solid carbide for rigidity and wear resistance, and it is finished with an AlTiCrN coating that extends tool life in harder and more abrasive workpiece materials. With 2 flutes and a single-end configuration, it is appropriate for CNC machining centers and precision manual mills operated by machinists and toolmakers.
This ball end mill is used in applications requiring very small-diameter tooling, including mold-making, die sinking, engraving, and finish profiling of 3D contoured surfaces. The 1/8-inch shank diameter allows it to seat in standard collets and tool holders found on CNC machining centers. The 1-1/2-inch overall length provides reach for recessed features while the 0.1250-inch neck length limits deflection in close-tolerance work. It is suitable for both roughing passes at reduced depth and finish passes on hardened or abrasive materials where the AlTiCrN coating provides thermal and oxidation resistance.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide ball end mill for CNC machining centers and precision mills accepting a 1/8-inch shank diameter collet or tool holder.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle powered down and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the 1/8-inch shank fully and evenly in the collet before torquing the collet nut to the tool-holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the tool for runout after installation using a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Due to the small diameter, avoid excessive side load or interrupted cuts that can cause tool breakage.
