The ACCUPRO 316061 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding shop environments. It carries a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 1.25-inch length of cut, and a 3-inch overall length with a 0.5-inch shank. Five spiral flutes and a 37-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and a smooth finish on a wide range of materials. The ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating reduces friction and extends tool life compared to uncoated carbide. Micrograin carbide construction adds toughness and edge retention at higher feed rates. This tool is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals on vertical and horizontal milling machines and machining centers.
The 316061 is well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a sharp, square shoulder is required. Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece, adding flexibility for pocketing operations. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional spindle setups. The combination of a 37-degree helix and five flutes makes it a practical choice when surface finish and material removal rate both matter. No extended reach is provided, keeping the tool rigid for close-tolerance work.
Designed as a standard 0.5-inch shank square end mill for use in collet chucks, end mill holders, or shrink-fit tooling systems on CNC and manual milling machines and machining centers that accept 0.5-inch shank tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's clamping and runout specifications. Ensure the spindle and tool holder are clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the recommended engagement depth. Verify runout at the cutting edge with a dial indicator before beginning a production run. Do not exceed the tool's rated depth of cut or feed per tooth for the workpiece material being machined.
