The ACCUPRO 315877 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling of contoured surfaces, slots, and complex 3D profiles. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention required for aggressive cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 1/2 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 37-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry to promote smooth chip evacuation and reduce chatter. A ZrN (Zirconium Nitride) coating adds surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in demanding applications. The 3-flute configuration balances chip load capacity with cutting speed, making it well suited for both finishing and semi-finishing passes.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills across job shops, tool rooms, and production environments. The 5/8 inch length of cut handles moderate-depth profiling and contouring work, while the extended reach design — with a 3-3/8 inch reach length and 6 inch overall length — allows access to deeper workpiece features without requiring a longer-reach holder. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC setups. It is appropriate for machinists working in aerospace, mold and die, general metalworking, and precision fabrication.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide ball end mill compatible with standard 1/2 inch tool holders and collet chucks used in CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator using an appropriate collet or end mill holder rated for the 1/2 inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the tool. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tooling is secured, as excessive runout will accelerate wear and degrade surface finish. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling supplier recommendations for feeds, speeds, and depth of cut based on workpiece material.
