The ACCUPRO 314655 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for tight-tolerance slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. The mill measures 5/16 inches in diameter with a 1/2-inch length of cut and a 2-1/2-inch overall length. A 37-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating increases surface hardness and reduces built-up edge, extending tool life in demanding applications. Center-cutting geometry allows direct plunge entry. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this end mill in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
This end mill suits general-purpose milling in job shops, production machining environments, and maintenance repair operations. The 5/16-inch shank diameter is compatible with standard collet systems and end mill holders in that bore size. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction make it a direct fit for conventional spindle rotation on vertical and horizontal machining centers. It is well suited for slotting, side milling, and light profiling passes in steel, stainless, aluminum, and similar materials where a 3-flute geometry balances chip room with surface finish.
Designed for use in standard 5/16-inch collets, collet chucks, and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual mills with right-hand spindle rotation. Mill diameter tolerance is +0.000 / -0.005 inches; shank diameter tolerance is +0.0001 / -0.0004 inches.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from its holder. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended depth in the collet or holder to maximize rigidity and minimize runout. Verify proper torque on the collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer specification before initiating a cut.
