The ACCUPRO 313617 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the hardness and wear resistance required for demanding cutting operations. The 5/16-inch diameter cutting edge pairs with a 1-1/4-inch length of cut, giving machinists substantial flute engagement without sacrificing rigidity. A 45-degree right-hand helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. The ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating adds a thermal barrier that extends tool life in high-speed applications. This is a long-series end mill with a 3-inch overall length, suited to setups requiring extended reach into deep pockets or cavities.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills for contouring, slotting, and profiling operations on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar workpiece materials. The ball-nose geometry makes it the correct choice for 3D surface milling and radius-bottom pocketing. With a 5/16-inch shank diameter matching the cutter diameter, it seats directly in standard collet chucks and end mill holders of the same size. It is typically installed and used by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators in job shops, production environments, and maintenance machining applications.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 5/16-inch shank ball end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit tooling systems that accept a 5/16-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an energy-isolated state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the collet nut or set screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before use; a damaged edge on a carbide end mill should not be run.
