The ACCUPRO 313148 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from micrograin carbide, it offers exceptional hardness and wear resistance compared to standard carbide grades. The 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces, while the ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating adds surface hardness and heat resistance. With a 5/16-inch diameter and an extra-long 2-1/8-inch length of cut, this tool handles deep-cavity milling, slotting, and peripheral cutting in a single setup. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, tool rooms, or production environments are the primary users.
This end mill suits applications requiring extended reach into workpieces where standard-length tools cannot access the full depth. It is well-suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other ferrous materials where ZrN coating provides a meaningful advantage in tool life. The single-end, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard CNC machining centers and manual mills with conventional toolholding. The 2-flute geometry provides more chip clearance per flute, which is beneficial in slotting and deep-pocket operations where chip packing is a concern.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or new installation for standard 5/16-inch toolholding systems including collets, shrink-fit holders, and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and at a complete stop before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the shank to the minimum clamping depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer to maintain rigidity, especially given the extra-long reach of this tool. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping to minimize deflection and premature tool wear.
