The ACCUPRO 312642 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining applications. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length. The tool is ground from micrograin carbide stock and finished with an AlCrTiN coating, which provides heat resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. Seven flutes deliver a high feed-per-tooth ratio and superior surface finish compared to standard four- or five-flute configurations. The 38-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation. This end mill is installed and applied by machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments.
The 312642 is suited for finish and semi-finish milling operations where a controlled corner radius is required to reduce stress concentration at part features. The noncentercutting geometry makes it appropriate for peripheral milling and profiling passes rather than plunge cutting. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard ER collets, side-lock holders, or hydraulic chucks with a 1/2 inch bore. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. The AlCrTiN coating performs well in dry and minimum-quantity lubrication (MQL) cutting strategies on alloy steels, tool steels, and stainless materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production end mill for CNC machining centers accepting 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank toolholders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle lock is engaged before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank to the full recommended grip length in the toolholder — a minimum of 3 times the shank diameter is standard practice. Because this tool is noncentercutting, do not use it for direct plunge entry into solid material; ramp or helical interpolation entry is required.
