The ACCUPRO 312230 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding shop environments. It carries a 0.5-inch (12.70 mm) cutting diameter and features five flutes with a 38-degree helix angle for aggressive chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. The AlTiCrN coating provides heat and wear resistance, making this end mill well suited to hard materials and high-speed cutting applications. At 6 inches overall length with a 0.625-inch length of cut, it offers extended reach capability. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shop, production, and tool-and-die settings.
This end mill is intended for milling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals where tool life and dimensional accuracy are priorities. The variable index geometry reduces harmonic vibration during cutting, improving finish quality and extending tool life in interrupted or deep-pocket operations. The single-end configuration is standard for replacement after wear. With a 0.5-inch shank diameter, it seats directly into standard 0.5-inch collets, end mill holders, or shrink-fit tooling. It is appropriate for vertical machining centers, horizontal mills, and manual knee mills equipped for carbide tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct-fit solid carbide square end mill for use in standard 0.5-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit tooling systems on CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool clamping torque and runout verification. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Verify holder bore cleanliness and shank seating depth before tightening. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after clamping to avoid premature edge wear or dimensional deviation.
