The ACCUPRO 311640 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and hardened materials. It features a 1/2-inch mill diameter, a 1-1/4-inch length of cut, and a 3-inch overall length. The AlCrTiN coating provides high heat and wear resistance, making it well suited for demanding cutting environments. With 5 flutes, a variable index geometry, and a 38-degree helix angle, this end mill delivers improved chip evacuation and surface finish quality. The 0.030-inch corner radius reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in high-speed operations. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
The 311640 is built for use in CNC machining centers handling contouring, profiling, and slotting operations. It is a single-end, centercutting design, allowing plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting geometry are standard for conventional vertical and horizontal CNC mills. The micrograin solid carbide substrate supports performance in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. This tool is suited for production environments requiring consistent tool life and repeatable dimensional accuracy.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide end mill for standard 1/2-inch collet or end mill holders on CNC vertical machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. The tool should be secured in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torqued to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the shank and holder bore for runout before engaging the cut. Always confirm spindle direction and programmed feed and speed parameters match the tool geometry before starting the cycle.
