The ACCUPRO 311284 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for precision milling in demanding machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlCrTiN, it handles high-temperature cutting environments common in hardened steels, stainless alloys, and exotic materials. The 1/2 inch diameter cutter features a 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a variable index design that reduces harmonic vibration during cut. A 0.030 inch corner radius protects the cutting edge and produces a smooth blend radius at part transitions. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Installed by machinists and toolroom technicians on CNC mills, VMCs, and manual knee mills.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose and finish milling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The 5/8 inch length of cut and 2-1/2 inch overall length make it appropriate for shallow-to-medium depth pockets, slots, and profiling passes. The 1/2 inch shank diameter seats directly into standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders without an adapter. The 38-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation and helps maintain surface finish in multi-pass programs. The chipbreaker geometry further reduces cutting forces and heat buildup in the cut zone.
Designed for use in standard 1/2 inch ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders on CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended gauge-line depth and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the collet or holder bore for chips or wear before seating the tool, as debris can induce runout that shortens tool life.
