The ACCUPRO 30125-00T is a spiral point tap designed for cutting right-hand internal threads in through-hole applications. It produces a 3/8-16 UNC thread with a 2B class of fit and carries an H5 thread limit, making it appropriate for general-purpose fastener threads in metal fabrication and machining work. The tap is manufactured from powdered metal and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, which increases surface hardness and extends tool life in production-volume threading operations. A plug chamfer provides a gradual lead-in that distributes cutting load across the first several threads. This tap is typically installed by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance mechanics using a tapping machine, CNC machining center, or hand tap wrench.
The 30125-00T is suited for through-hole threading in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where chip evacuation forward through the hole is acceptable. The spiral point geometry pushes chips ahead of the tap rather than backing them out, which reduces chip packing and is well-matched to production environments with consistent material feeds. The plug chamfer makes it adaptable to both new hole threading and re-chasing existing threads to 2B tolerance. Coolant-through capability is not included, so external cutting fluid or flood coolant is the standard approach for lubrication and heat management.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for 3/8-16 UNC spiral point plug taps used in standard through-hole threading applications on tapping machines, CNC machining centers, and manual tap wrenches.
This tap is installed and operated by machinists or maintenance mechanics familiar with tapping speeds, feeds, and proper alignment procedures. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid or flood coolant before and during the tapping cycle to manage heat and extend tool life. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is aligned perpendicular to the hole before engagement to avoid tap breakage or thread misalignment. Never force a tap that has stalled; back it off to clear chips before continuing.
