The ACCUPRO 14881958 is a miniature single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in tight geometries and fine-detail work. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it offers the rigidity and wear resistance required for high-speed machining of hardened steels, stainless steels, and non-ferrous alloys. The cutting end measures 0.0469 inches in diameter with a 0.07-inch length of cut, and the tool carries an AlTiN coating that extends tool life by reducing heat absorption at the cutting edge. Three flutes with a 30-degree right-hand helix provide efficient chip evacuation at the small diameters where chip packing is a common failure point. This tool is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC milling centers and high-speed machining platforms.
This end mill is suited for finishing passes, contour milling, and 3D profiling work where a small-radius ball nose geometry is required. Extended reach construction, with a neck length of 0.141 inches and an overall length of 2.5 inches, allows access to recessed features and deep pockets without requiring a specialty holder. The 1/8-inch shank diameter is compatible with standard collet systems found on CNC machining centers and toolroom mills. Typical applications include mold and die work, aerospace component finishing, and precision medical part machining where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for CNC milling applications requiring a 1/8-inch shank, miniature-diameter ball end mill in a right-hand cut configuration.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool-change interlock engaged before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or tool holder. Verify collet bore size matches the 1/8-inch shank diameter and that runout is within acceptable limits before engaging a cut, as excessive runout at miniature diameters accelerates tool breakage. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and applicable ANSI B11 safety standards for tool holding, speeds, and feeds.
