The ACCUPRO 14788610 is a 2-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling of contoured surfaces, complex 3D profiles, and radiused slots. With a 0.313-inch mill diameter and a 0.5-inch length of cut, this tool delivers tight tolerances in harder workpiece materials where high-speed steel tooling falls short. The AlTiN Plus coating provides elevated heat resistance and oxidation protection, making it well-suited for dry or semi-dry cutting in ferrous alloys, hardened steels, and aerospace-grade materials. A matching 0.313-inch cylindrical shank ensures a secure, concentric grip in standard end mill holders. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC programmers are the primary users of this tool.
This ball end mill is suited for CNC milling operations in job shop, production, and toolroom environments. Medium flute geometry supports a balance of chip evacuation and cutting edge strength across a range of materials including alloy steel, stainless, and hardened workpieces. The 2-inch overall length keeps tool deflection low in typical shallow-to-moderate depth applications. No extended reach is present, which contributes to rigidity during finish and semi-finish passes on 3-axis and 5-axis machining centers.
Designed as a standard cylindrical-shank ball end mill for use in conventional end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit tooling systems accepting a 0.313-inch shank diameter on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is in a safe state before loading or unloading the tool. Secure the shank to the minimum recommended engagement depth in the holder to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping and before beginning a cutting program.
