The ACCUPRO 14556481 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and hardened materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN+, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention in demanding cutting environments. The tool features a 0.5000 inch mill diameter, 4 spiral flutes, and a 40-degree medium helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 0.6250 inch length of cut, this stub-length end mill is suited for rigid setups where deflection control is critical. Machinists and CNC operators rely on this geometry for contoured surfaces, 3D profiling, and finishing passes.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where ball-nose geometry is required for contoured or radiused features. The 0.5000 inch shank diameter matches standard ER and side-lock toolholders. The AlTiN+ coating makes it appropriate for dry or minimal-lubrication cutting in alloy steels, tool steels, stainless steels, and cast iron. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction suit conventional CNC programming without special offsets. Its stub-length classification provides extra rigidity for applications with limited Z-axis clearance or tight pockets.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 0.5000 inch shank ball end mill applications in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines using ER collet chucks, hydraulic holders, or side-lock toolholders with a 1/2 inch bore.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully powered down and locked out before toolholder changes. Ensure the shank is clean and seated to the full recommended engagement depth in the toolholder to avoid pullout under load. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation; excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces part accuracy. Follow machine manufacturer torque specifications for collet nuts and toolholder fasteners.
