The ACCUPRO 12185145 is a double-end square end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of metalworking applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating, this tool delivers high heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting environments. It measures 0.5 inches in diameter with a 1-inch length of cut, a 0.5-inch shank diameter, and a 4-inch overall length. The 4-flute spiral design with a 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and a smooth surface finish. Centercutting geometry allows plunge cuts, adding versatility to the tool's capabilities. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the typical end users for this type of tooling.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills performing profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The AlTiN coating makes it particularly effective when cutting hardened steels, alloy steels, stainless steel, and cast iron at elevated speeds where heat buildup is a concern. The double-end configuration provides two usable cutting ends, extending the service interval before replacement. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC spindle operation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for CNC machining centers and knee mills accepting a 0.5-inch shank diameter end mill holder, collet chuck, or shrink-fit toolholder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholder specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or changing tooling. Use a calibrated tool presetter or edge finder to establish accurate tool length offsets before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the toolholder's rated runout tolerance, as excessive runout accelerates cutting edge wear and reduces surface finish quality.
