The ACCUPRO 12185112 is a double-end square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this tool delivers rigidity and edge retention well beyond high-speed steel alternatives. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating reduces friction, extends tool life at elevated cutting temperatures, and improves performance in hardened steels and stainless. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, 0.625 inch length of cut, and 3 inch overall length, this is a compact stub-length tool suited for close-tolerance work where deflection must be minimized. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines where a right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute configuration is required. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole, making it versatile for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling. The stub length classification provides added stiffness in tight setups. The double-end design provides two usable cutting ends, extending service intervals before the tool must be replaced or reground.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 0.5 inch shank square end mill toolholders including ER collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and Weldon-style side-lock holders accepting a 0.5 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator familiar with tool-holding systems and runout requirements. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Verify shank engagement depth meets the toolholder manufacturer minimum before tightening. Always confirm spindle rotation direction matches the right-hand cut specification before initiating a cut.
