The ACCUPRO 12184956 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in metal-cutting applications. Built from micrograin carbide stock, this single-end tool carries a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating that raises surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge. The 0.25-inch diameter with a 1.5-inch length of cut and 6-inch overall length places it in the extra-long category, giving machinists reach into deep cavities and pockets where standard-length tools cannot engage. The 40-degree helix angle and four right-hand spiral flutes promote efficient chip evacuation and a smooth finish on ferrous and non-ferrous materials alike.
This end mill suits CNC machining centers and manual mills running ferrous alloys, hardened steels, stainless, and similar materials where a TiCN coating provides a thermal and wear advantage. The extra-long overall length makes it appropriate for die and mold work, deep-pocket profiling, and 3D contouring operations. It is a single-end tool, meaning it is replaced rather than re-indexed when worn. Machinists in job shops, toolrooms, and production environments will find this geometry well suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes in confined or deep features.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for 0.25-inch shank ball end mill positions on standard CNC machining centers and manual knee mills accepting a 1/4-inch round shank tool holder or collet.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Confirm the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lock-out state before changing tooling. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for the 0.25-inch shank diameter and torque the retention nut to the tool-holder specification. Inspect the collet and holder bore for wear or debris before seating the tool, as runout directly affects tool life and surface finish with small-diameter carbide end mills.
