The ACCUPRO 12184950 is a single-end ball end mill designed for milling curved surfaces, contoured profiles, and three-dimensional features in metalworking and machining applications. It is built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with titanium carbonitride (TiCN) for improved wear resistance and tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The mill measures 0.625 inches in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut and a 6-inch overall length, placing it in the long series category. The 40-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Four spiral flutes provide a good balance of chip clearance and edge strength for general-purpose profiling and slotting work.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where long-reach access to deep pockets or steep walls is required. The long series configuration allows clearance for deeper cuts without repositioning fixturing. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction match standard spindle rotation on most vertical and horizontal machining centers. It is typically used in tool-and-die, mold-making, aerospace component, and general precision machining environments where tight tolerances on curved geometry are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide ball end mill compatible with standard 5/8-inch bore toolholders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit holders used on CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe lockout state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the toolholder and torque retention screws or collet nuts to the toolholder specification. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before use, and confirm runout is within acceptable limits using a dial indicator before commencing a cut.
