The ACCUPRO 12184804 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. Built from solid carbide micrograin material, it delivers hardness and rigidity suited for high-speed cutting in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. An AlTiN coating adds thermal resistance and wear protection, extending tool life in demanding cutting environments. At 0.3438 inches in diameter with a 0.625-inch length of cut, this stub-length mill is well-suited for close-tolerance profiling, contouring, and slotting work.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual milling operations where ball-nose geometry is required for 3D contouring, radius profiling, and curved surface finishing. The stub-length design provides increased rigidity and reduced deflection, making it a reliable choice for precision work in tool and die, mold making, aerospace component machining, and general job shop applications. Machinists working with hardened steels, stainless, and high-temp alloys will benefit from the AlTiN coating under high cutting speeds.
Designed for use in standard 3/8-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills capable of accepting right-hand cut tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and powered down before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the recommended minimum engagement depth per toolholder manufacturer guidelines, and verify runout with a dial indicator before production cutting. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material and coating type.
