The ACCUPRO 12184429 is a single-end ball end mill designed for contour milling, profiling, and 3D surfacing operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers rigidity and wear resistance in demanding cutting conditions. The 1/2 inch diameter cutting end features three right-hand spiral flutes with a 40-degree helix angle, promoting smooth chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. An AlTiN coating increases surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in ferrous and hardened steels, stainless, and high-temperature alloys. The 5/8 inch length of cut and 2-1/2 inch overall length make this a compact, rigid tool suited for detailed work with minimal deflection.
This ball end mill is suited for machining complex contoured surfaces, pocketing, slotting, and die-and-mold work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The AlTiN coating performs well at elevated cutting temperatures, making this tool a practical choice for dry or minimal-coolant machining. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute geometry are standard for conventional CNC mill setups. It is installed by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance machine shops.
Designed as a standard 1/2 inch shank ball end mill compatible with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic tool holders sized for 1/2 inch shank tooling on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the 1/2 inch shank fully into the holder to the recommended gauge line and torque the collet nut or set screw per the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling.
