The ACCUPRO 12184178 is a single-end ball end mill engineered for precision milling operations in metal cutting applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers consistent edge integrity and extended tool life compared to high-speed steel alternatives. The ball-nose geometry produces smooth contoured surfaces on 3D profiles, blended radii, and die-and-mold work. A TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating reduces friction and increases surface hardness at the cutting edge, helping the tool perform in harder workpiece materials. At 11 mm in diameter with a 14 mm length of cut, this stub-length end mill suits short-reach finishing and semi-finishing passes where rigidity is a priority.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers handling ferrous metals, hardened steels, stainless, and cast iron where TiCN coating provides adequate lubricity and wear resistance. The stub length and 12 mm shank diameter support reduced overhang setups, minimizing deflection in tight-tolerance milling operations. Right-hand cutting and right-hand spiral flutes are standard for conventional and climb milling on most CNC vertical and horizontal machining platforms. Machinists and tooling specialists working in job shops, moldmaking, and production milling will find this geometry appropriate for contour finishing and profiling passes.
Designed as a direct-fit tooling replacement for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 12 mm round shank. Compatible with standard ER collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic chucks sized for 12 mm shank diameters.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended grip depth in the tool holder and torque the retention device per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating cuts, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
