The ACCUPRO 12183880 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and hardened materials. The cutter runs a 3/8 inch diameter with a 1-1/8 inch length of cut, six flutes, and a 40-degree helix angle ground from micrograin carbide stock. The AlTiN coating supports elevated operating temperatures, extending tool life in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions. This is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand spiral tool suited for finish milling, slotting, and profiling passes where edge retention and dimensional accuracy matter. A machinist or toolroom operator running CNC vertical or horizontal mills is the primary user.
This end mill fits milling applications where a long-series reach and tight shank tolerances are required. The 3/8 inch shank diameter carries a tolerance of -0.0001 to -0.0004 inches, giving a secure, predictable fit in standard ER or side-lock tool holders. The 3 inch overall length places this in the long series category, making it practical for applications where a standard-length end mill cannot reach the floor of a deep pocket or stepped feature. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills fitted with 3/8 inch collets or end mill holders. The shank and cut geometry are consistent with standard tooling setups for ferrous alloys, stainless steel, and hardened steels where AlTiN coating provides the most benefit.
A machinist or toolroom technician should install this end mill into a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder, ensuring the shank is fully seated to the recommended gauge-line depth before tightening. Verify spindle runout at the cutting end does not exceed the diameter tolerance before committing to a finish pass. Machine spindle and axis drives must be fully stopped and the control placed in E-stop before changing tooling. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer or machine tool builder recommended depth-of-cut and feed parameters for the workpiece material being machined.
