The ACCUPRO 12183853 is a 6-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from micrograin carbide and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), this tool handles hardened steels, stainless, and high-temp alloys at elevated cutting speeds. The 40-degree helix angle reduces cutting forces and improves chip evacuation compared to standard 30-degree geometry. With a 0.25 inch cutting diameter and 0.75 inch length of cut, this is a right-hand spiral flute, centercutting end mill suited for slotting, profiling, and plunge operations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this tool in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
This end mill is suited for finish and semi-finish milling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials in production and job-shop environments. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole, expanding its use in pocket milling. The 0.25 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collets, side-lock holders, and shrink-fit tooling commonly used in CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. The regular length configuration keeps overhang low for maximum rigidity during full-width slotting passes.
Designed for use in standard 0.25 inch ER collet chucks, side-lock end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Verify holder runout tolerance against the shank diameter tolerance of -0.0001 to -0.0004 inches before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the tool from the holder. Confirm collet or holder bore cleanliness to avoid seating errors that increase runout. Do not exceed the 0.75 inch length of cut — engaging flutes beyond the listed LOC risks tool breakage and workpiece damage.
