The ACCUPRO 12183600 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. With a 5/8 inch cutting diameter, 2 inch length of cut, and 6 inch overall length, this extra-long tool handles deep-pocket and extended-reach operations that standard-length end mills cannot reach. The micrograin carbide substrate paired with an AlTiN finish delivers heat resistance and wear life in ferrous metals, stainless, and hardened materials. Four spiral flutes at a 40-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for slot milling, peripheral milling, and plunge cutting in vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into workpiece material without pre-drilling a pilot hole. The extra-long 6 inch OAL makes it appropriate for deep cavities, tall workpiece setups, and fixture-clearance situations where a standard 2.5 inch or 3 inch OAL tool would not reach. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is compatible with conventional spindle-direction setups on the majority of CNC machining centers.
Designed as a direct-fit tooling option for standard 5/8 inch ER, side-lock, or Weldon-style tool holders used in CNC vertical machining centers and manual milling machines that accept 5/8 inch shank tooling.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an E-stop or tool-change mode. Ensure the shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the tool holder per the holder manufacturer specifications before initiating any cutting cycle. Inspect the AlTiN coating and cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as carbide end mills are brittle and can fail if run with pre-existing edge damage. Follow your shop runout specifications when setting this tool, as extended-reach end mills amplify runout effects at the cutting tip.
