The ACCUPRO 12183561 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. It features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 1-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length, making it well suited to long-reach applications where standard-length tools fall short. The TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) finish improves surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in abrasive or high-speed cutting conditions. Four spiral flutes with a 40-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This end mill is centercutting, allowing it to plunge directly into the workpiece. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in job shops, tool rooms, and production machining environments.
This end mill is suited to milling slots, pockets, and profiles in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The long flute configuration and 40-degree helix make it effective in applications requiring extended reach into deep features. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher surface footage compared to standard carbide grades, particularly in hardened steels and stainless alloys. It is sold and used as a single-piece tool.
Designed as a standard shank end mill compatible with 0.5-inch collets, end mill holders, and hydraulic chucks used on CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills with right-hand spindle rotation.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the 0.5-inch shank fully into the holder and tighten to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using the appropriate wrench. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production cutting, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling.
