The ACCUPRO 12183298 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. It features a 3/8 inch diameter with a matching 3/8 inch shank, a 0.0200 inch corner radius, and four right-hand spiral flutes with a 40-degree helix angle. The AlTiN coating provides heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting hard ferrous materials at elevated speeds. With an extra-long 4 inch overall length and a 1-3/4 inch length of cut, this end mill is suited for deep pocket milling and profiling work where reach is a factor. Micrograin carbide construction contributes to edge stability and wear resistance.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills for profiling, slotting, and pocket milling operations on ferrous alloys, hardened steels, stainless steels, and similar difficult-to-cut materials. The corner radius geometry reduces corner chipping and stress concentration at the tool tip compared to a sharp-corner end mill, making it a common choice for finishing and semi-finishing passes on die and mold work, aerospace components, and precision machined parts. Single-end, centercutting design allows plunge entry.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use cutting tool for CNC machining centers and milling machines accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank end mill holder or collet.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle powered down and locked out per shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges and corner radius for chips or wear before each use. Follow the material manufacturer and tool manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for AlTiN-coated carbide tooling on the workpiece material being cut.
