The ACCUPRO 12182908 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. It features a 27/64 inch (0.4219 inch) cutting diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 4-flute spiral configuration with a 40-degree helix angle. The micrograin carbide substrate provides wear resistance suitable for ferrous and non-ferrous materials. A TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating reduces friction and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. This is a stub-length end mill, offering added rigidity for applications where deflection control is critical. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry directly into the workpiece.
This end mill is suited for slot milling, peripheral milling, and plunge cutting in general machining applications including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum alloys. The stub-length configuration is commonly used in vertical machining centers and manual knee mills where short overhang improves rigidity and surface finish. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC and manual milling setups. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians working in production and job-shop environments are the primary installers of this tool.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill suitable for use in standard milling machine collets and tool holders accepting a 7/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation of end mills should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before loading or removing tooling. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder to the recommended clamping depth, and verify runout before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type.
