The ACCUPRO 12182858 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from micrograin carbide stock and finished with an AlTiN coating, it delivers heat resistance and tool life in demanding cutting environments. The 4-flute, spiral geometry with a 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining a smooth finish on the workpiece. At 0.315 inches in diameter with a 0.4724-inch length of cut, this is a stub-length tool intended for rigid setups where minimizing deflection is a priority. Machinists and CNC operators install this tool in standard end mill holders or collet chucks for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations.
This end mill is suited for use in vertical machining centers and CNC mills handling ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardened steels, stainless, and cast iron where the AlTiN coating provides thermal protection at elevated cutting speeds. The stub length classification makes it a strong choice when programming shallow-to-moderate depth cuts and when toolholder rigidity is more important than reach. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole, adding flexibility to tool paths. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry follow standard spindle convention for most VMC and CNC machining center setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit cutting tool for standard end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit holders with an 8.00 mm (0.315 inch) bore accepting right-hand cut solid carbide end mills.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle drive before loading or removing the tool from the holder. Ensure the holder bore and shank are clean and free of chips or burrs before seating the tool to maintain runout tolerances. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material and coating type.
