The ACCUPRO 12182257 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal-cutting applications. It features a 9/16 inch cutting diameter, a 3-inch length of cut, and a 6-inch overall length, placing it in the extra-long category for extended-reach work. The micrograin carbide substrate supports rigidity and edge retention at elevated cutting speeds. A TiCN (titanium carbonitride) finish reduces friction and improves wear resistance compared to uncoated tooling. With three spiral flutes at a 40-degree helix angle, this end mill promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shop and production environments are the typical users.
This end mill suits slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations where an extended reach is required. The extra-long 6-inch OAL makes it appropriate for deep-cavity work, tall workpiece features, or setups where standard-length tooling cannot reach the cut zone. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. It is suited for use in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where TiCN coatings perform well, including alloy steels, stainless steels, and cast iron at moderate to high surface footage.
Designed as a standard shank end mill for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines equipped with collet or end mill holders accepting a 9/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine is powered down or in an E-stop state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in a clean, undamaged collet or end mill holder and torque the retention fastener to the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling.
