The ACCUPRO 12181840 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in demanding milling applications. Built from micrograin carbide and finished with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating, this tool delivers extended wear resistance and improved surface finish compared to uncoated alternatives. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 6 inch overall length, placing it in the extra-long category for reach into deep pockets and long-wall features. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators are the primary installers and users of this end mill.
This end mill is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a TiCN coating provides thermal and abrasion resistance advantages. The extra-long 6 inch OAL makes it appropriate for deep-pocket milling, long-reach profiling, and applications where a standard-length tool cannot reach the workpiece. The centercutting geometry allows both peripheral and plunge cutting operations. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration are standard for conventional CNC machining center spindles.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining centers and manual mills using 3/8 inch collets, ER collet chucks, or 3/8 inch end mill holders with right-hand spindle rotation.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an estop or tool-change state. Ensure the shank is clean and the holder bore is free of chips before seating the tool. Tighten the collet or set screw to the toolholder manufacturer torque specification — do not exceed recommended clamping force on the 3/8 inch shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping; excessive runout on a long-reach carbide tool will cause premature breakage.
