The ACCUPRO 12181813 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in milling applications. Built from micrograin carbide and coated with titanium carbonitride (TiCN), it delivers high wear resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 5/16 inch diameter tool features a 40-degree helix angle with spiral fluting, promoting smooth chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. With a 1 inch length of cut and a 4 inch overall length, it falls in the long-series category, offering extended reach where standard-length tools cannot access. Machinists and CNC operators install this tool in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines.
This end mill suits precision machining work in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments. The centercutting geometry allows plunge milling in addition to standard peripheral and slot milling. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration match conventional spindle setups without modification. The long-series length makes it useful for slotting deeper pockets and reaching features on stepped or raised workpiece surfaces. Applications include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened alloy milling where a TiCN coating provides the thermal and abrasion resistance needed for consistent dimensional results.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit solid carbide end mill for conventional and CNC milling machines accepting a 5/16 inch straight shank.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Power down the spindle and confirm it has come to a full stop before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in a collet or end mill holder and torque the drawbar or set screw to the machine manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as micrograin carbide is sensitive to deflection and improper seating can cause premature chipping.
