The ACCUPRO 12181655 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metal cutting and machining applications. It features a 11/32 inch (0.3438 inch) cutting diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 3/8 inch shank diameter with a 2 inch overall length. The two-flute, spiral configuration with a 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) coating adds heat resistance and surface hardness, extending tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute, centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into a workpiece. It is manufactured from micrograin carbide substrate for consistent edge integrity.
This end mill is suited for stub-length milling operations where rigidity is a priority over reach. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and pocket milling in ferrous metals, aluminum, stainless steel, and similar materials on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The stub length classification makes it well-suited for high-speed passes in shallow cavities where tool deflection must be minimized. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shops, production environments, or maintenance machining will find this geometry appropriate for tight-tolerance work.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining centers and manual mills that accept a 3/8 inch shank diameter, with a mill diameter tolerance of +0.000 / -0.002 inches and a shank diameter tolerance of -0.0001 / -0.0004 inches.
This end mill is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician using an appropriate collet or end mill holder sized for a 3/8 inch shank. Ensure the spindle is at a full stop and the machine is powered down or in an E-stop state before changing tooling. Verify runout at the cutting diameter with a dial indicator after seating the tool, and confirm depth-of-cut parameters match the 5/8 inch length of cut before beginning a program cycle. Do not exceed the tool geometry limits for axial and radial engagement.
