The ACCUPRO 12181483 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and hardened materials. It features a 1/2-inch diameter, a 1-inch length of cut (1.25 inches decimal), and a 0.02-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at slot and pocket corners. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An AlTiN coating extends tool life in high-heat applications such as dry machining and hard milling. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into a workpiece as well as cut laterally. Machinists and toolroom operators working in job shops, aerospace, mold and die, or general metalworking will find this tool suited for both roughing and semi-finishing passes.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where corner radius geometry is required to match part print callouts or to improve corner strength in pockets and slots. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute spiral are standard for conventional CNC spindle rotation. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher surface footage and feed rates compared to standard carbide grades. Typical applications include profiling, slotting, and pocket milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous alloys where the AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide corner radius end mill suitable for standard 1/2-inch ER, side-lock, or shrink-fit tool holders used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and can compromise corner radius accuracy. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine builder guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut based on workpiece material and machine rigidity.
