The ACCUPRO 12181481 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It features a 0.500 inch mill diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 0.125 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge for improved tool life. The AlTiN coating adds heat and wear resistance, making it well suited for high-speed dry or semi-dry cutting applications. With 2 flutes and a right-hand spiral flute geometry, it provides efficient chip evacuation in demanding machining environments. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is used in vertical and horizontal machining centers where a radiused corner profile is required on part features such as pockets, slots, and contoured surfaces. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole. With a 3 inch overall length and a 0.500 inch shank diameter, it mounts in standard end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders. The 40-degree helix angle promotes smooth cutting action and is particularly effective in hardened steels, stainless steel, and titanium alloys when combined with the AlTiN coating.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or new installation tool for any standard 0.500 inch end mill holder, collet chuck, or shrink-fit toolholder used in CNC or manual vertical milling machines.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. The machine spindle must be powered off and fully stopped before loading the tool into the holder. Ensure the shank is clean and seated to the correct gauge line depth before tightening. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the retention knob or collet nut, and verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing the cut.
