The ACCUPRO 12181479 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal-cutting environments. Built from micrograin carbide and finished with an AlTiN coating, this tool delivers high heat resistance and extended wear life in ferrous and hardened materials. It features a 2-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 40-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation. The 0.5-inch cutting diameter and 1-inch length of cut make it well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. This end mill is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working on CNC mills and manual knee mills.
This end mill is used in job shops, tool and die operations, and production machining environments. The regular-length body with a 3-inch overall length provides rigid tool overhang for stable cutting in standard-depth pockets and slots. The 0.5-inch shank diameter is compatible with standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style side-lock holders. Applications include finishing passes on steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel, as well as light slotting in non-ferrous materials where the AlTiN finish provides lubricity and heat resistance.
Designed as a standard square end mill for use in 1/2-inch end mill holders, ER32 or ER40 collet chucks, and Weldon-style holders with a 0.5-inch bore. Suitable for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines accepting 1/2-inch shank tooling.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle stopped and machine power isolated per shop lockout and tagout procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated in the holder to the recommended insertion depth before torquing set screws or collet nuts to the holder specification. Verify runout with a dial test indicator before cutting to confirm the tool is within acceptable concentricity limits. Handle carbide end mills with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges during setup.
