The ACCUPRO 12180724 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding shop environments. Built from micrograin carbide and finished with an AlTiN coating, it handles elevated cutting temperatures and abrasive workpiece materials where high-speed steel tooling falls short. The 0.25 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1.25 inch length of cut and a 3 inch overall length, making it well suited for slot milling, profiling, and pocket work in tight clearance conditions. Five flutes provide a strong feed-per-tooth rate and a fine surface finish, while the 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces chatter during cut.
This end mill is intended for use on CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual knee mills where a right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute tool is required. The variable index geometry reduces harmonic vibration during full-width slotting and side milling passes. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry into material without a pre-drilled pilot hole, adding flexibility in complex program routines. Machinists working in tool steels, stainless alloys, cast iron, and hardened materials will find the AlTiN coating and micrograin substrate well matched to those applications.
Designed as a standard shank end mill compatible with 0.25 inch collets, ER collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and side-lock milling arbors accepting a 0.25 inch straight shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank in a clean, undamaged collet or tool holder and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Confirm that spindle speed and feed rate are set per the toolmaker's recommendations for the specific workpiece material before engaging the cut.
