The ACCUPRO 12180449 is a 4-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in demanding machining environments. It features an AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) coating over a micrograin carbide substrate, delivering high heat resistance and extended tool life at aggressive cutting parameters. The 40-degree spiral helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. With a 7/16 inch cutting diameter and 1 inch length of cut, this end mill is suited for profiling, slotting, and contouring operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Machinists and tool-room operators in production and job-shop settings are the primary users.
This end mill is well matched for general-purpose and finishing cuts in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials where AlTiN coating performance is advantageous. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole, expanding its use in pocketing and ramping operations. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC spindle rotation. The 7/16 inch shank diameter matches directly to ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling of the same bore size, making it a straightforward drop-in for most tooling setups.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill for use in standard 7/16 inch bore end mill holders, ER collet systems, and shrink-fit tooling across CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer, and torque retention screws or collet nuts to the toolholder specification. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before use, and verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting.
