The ACCUPRO 12179659 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 1/8 inch diameter with a 0.01 inch corner radius and a 1/2 inch length of cut, making it well suited for finishing passes and contour milling where a sharp corner break is required. The 3-flute geometry with a 35-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. A TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating increases surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide, extending tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, so it can be plunged directly into the workpiece.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual knee mills for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling. The small diameter and short length of cut make it a practical choice for detail work, die and mold applications, and tight-tolerance features in aluminum, steel, stainless, and cast iron. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute spiral are standard for conventional CNC setups. Machinists and tool-and-die makers working in job shops or production environments are the primary users.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/8 inch shank collet or end mill holder. No specific machine model compatibility was provided in the product data.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or toolholder. Seat the shank to the recommended insertion depth per the toolholder manufacturer's specification and torque the collet nut with the appropriate spanner wrench. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning any cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear and can cause premature tool failure on small-diameter carbide end mills.
